Business Man First

Take a look at all the people in the collage, all different types of athletes from soccer, track, football, golf, basketball, to football, all different sports with one thing in common: Businessmen. Now we look at all of them and see just an athlete but there is so much more to it than just the sport. Being a professional athlete requires you to have acknowledge and insight into being a business man. Yeah you get money from your contract but in fact all the money comes from your endorsements and your image. We tend to look at athletes like they are different from us, when the only thing separating them from us is, MONEY! Athletes are normal people just like you and I. So why is the way they live their lives broadcast in such demeaning manors? No none of these men are perfect but I also believe that athletes deserve privacy and to be treated just as you and I are. I mean take a look at Tiger Woods and his infidelity, people cheat ALL THE TIME bruh so it makes him different because of his name? When you become famous you are not only a business man and athlete, but also
a role model and must realize this as well. Bruh the first time I heard the story about Tiger Woods I died laughing. Like seriously we are all that interested in this mans sex life. I swore that part of your life was supposed to be confidential. Chris Brown was right, these hoes aint loyal lol. I honestly don't care man, if you want to go around having sex with all these other women, do you. Just a male version of a thot! As a nation we hold athletes to such high standards, and forget that they are normal people with the same issues and problems like us. Tiger woods life was put on blast so much that yes it interfered with this mans game. He started to lose games, lost a couple endorsements(meaning loss in money-_-), lost fans, got hurt, hurt others, just felt like everything was tumbling down on him at once. The public and media are the hype man for anything. Man a cat can fall from a tree and if the world finds out they will hype that shit up like the cat was talking or something. IMAGE IMAGE IMAGE, Cannot stress how IMPORTANT a professionals image is. Cause without that, that means bye bye endorsements, and without endorsements, that means less $$$$$! So lets tie this all together, an athlete is a business man, who needs to maintain a certain image to keep his/her endorsements, which keep bringing in more money, and also keep the public from talking bad about him/her, which will then leave his endorsement companies happy. Its a revolving cycle that never seems to end. Because as soon as you do ONE thing wrong the public jumps on you and companies cannot have someone giving their company a bad rep.
So with this last picture I want you to ask yourself some questions: how many times have certain situations been made worse than what they are because of the public? How many times have situations been changed around because of how someone reacts to it?

Young Moose & Lor Scoota

Meet Young Moose, OTM.
The first time I listened to Young Moose song "Dumb Dumb" I didnt really like it, and I could not put my finger on why. But I am the type of person who needs to know their artist to be able to understand them. I listened to all of OTM 1&2 and I like it. The same applies to Lor Scoota, when I first heard "Bird Flu" didnt like it either but now I like Still In The Trenches 2.5. I dont just hop on the "bandwagon"  cause all of the city listening to them, I am fine with being that one odd ball not listening to music.
Im sure we have all heard of Spinrilla(right) and soundcloud. The two most common ways to get your music listened to in today's society. Drop something on there and if its good in a matter of hours you will have a ton of downloads. Why would I try to get in contact with a record deal and try to get signed. People who get signed don't last long. One hit wonders, get the stuff on the radio for about two weeks and then disappear. People who aren't from Baltimore are listening to Lor Scoota and Young Moose. I encourage artist to stay independent, drop your music on spinrilla or soundcloud and let the public tell you how good you are. What matters is what the public thinks not a producer, right?

Now lets talk about cd's....

Thing of the past....or nah?
Lets be real, when is the last time you bought a cd? When is the last time you listened to a cd? When is the last time you downloaded someones new album for free or via itunes? When is the last time you plugged your phone into your aux cord in the car? If you are like me the answer to the first two questions you probably cant even remember the answer to, and the last two probably were no brainers. The way I look at it, why spend money on things when they are free? I am in college I need to save all the money I possibly can lol. Record labels are smart, they will notice all the buzz and get with or meet the artist. I am sure that record labels have spinrilla, and soundcloud, they know what all the hype is in today's society. For example, Meek Mill know about Lor Scoota, working hard you will come up and meet the right people.
Scoota (left), Meek Mill (right)
To sum it all up, the radio plays things out. So either you have satellite radio or you have an aux cord. The radio has destroyed themselves in my opinion. Artist know how to market themselves and how to get something to the public, a lot of celebrities make money off of endorsements, and shows anyway not necessarily from cds. Gotta get it one way or another, and record labels aren't dumb. They know how to make money and who's hot and who's not!

News or Opinion?

Nancy Grace's Jodi Arias Defense angling for Mental Illness Diagnosis 06-13-13 is not even news it is an opinion segment. A chance for her to bash Jodi Arias and the defense. Nancy Grace is a very one-sided person who sees it as either her way or no way. The Jodi Arias case is a case involving a young women who does not want her ex to date anyone else, and the defense is arguing for not guilty by mental illness. Here is the video if you would like to watch some of it but BE AWARE it will make you feel some type of way, Nancy Grace Episode. Since when did it become okay to say some of the things she was saying?

She said just because Arias was diagnosed with BPD, borderline personality disorder, does not mean she has a mental illness. -_____- BISH WHET!!! That comment blew me, I take abnormal psychology and am learning about all mental illnesses. Lets get one thing clear, IF IT IS IN THE DSM-5 IT IS A MENTAL ILLNESS! She is just talking to talk, and in a rude way at that. Behold the DSM!

Reality Television, All Bad?

I remember the first time I heard about the Kardashians...sitting there with my sister and I see a commercial for their show. First thing I'm thinking, damnnnnnnnn!! I mean can you blame me, its not like they don't look good. ALL of them ! Kanye was right, " You can look at Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney, and Khloe... All your mama ever made was trophies right." The quote on the picture I believe is right, although they are idolized for the wrong reasons since they are idolized why not take the good out of it. They are all different sizes, with different styles, and body shapes and they all look nice. The generation I live in only notices the negative in EVERYTHING.

I STRONGLY believe in this picture-->
Its sad but it is very much true! In the eyes of the world, they are all flawless, but all portrayed negatively.
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Beautiful In all sizes
  • Family Oriented
  • Focused
Not everything we put out about them needs to be so negative. The Kardashians/ Jenner family does a lot of positive things. But you always have that one bad apple that ruins it for the bunch lol. Kourtney ruined that!
NEXT.....
Meet the Simmons family....
If you don't remember Runs House, then where was your childhood homie? The famous Rev Run, from Run DMC.. His daughters Angela and Vanessa came out with the Pastries Shoes (WEAK), JoJo swore he was going be a rapper (FAIL), Diggy as never allowed in the studio but end up being a rapper, and Russy...well, we will just leave it there. Rev Run, a Christian guy made sure to bring his family up right, teach them morals, life goals, and the value of hard work. Rev Run is well respected not only for his music career but how he handles adversity, how he raised his family and so forth. Take a look at how Daniel "Diggy" Simmons talks about reality television.

EVERYTHING we see DOESNT have to be NEGATIVE, break the surface and notice the good. I leave you with this quote that defines reality for you and why there is so much negativity in this generation.......

USA TODAY or dundalk eagle....Which Will Escape Extinction?

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT: USA TODAY TRUMPS DUNDALK EAGLE!
Just yesterday I was standing on the corner of Belair Road and Erdman Ave waiting for the 22. I see some man in a white truck get out of the van and walk over to the thing that holds the newspapers. Im wondering what in the hell is he doing. I see him picking it up and putting it in the back of his truck. I just sat there with the dick look and sipped my cup of  tea.

So I get on the 22 head down to Highland Ave and Fayette St., waiting for the 20 bus... and again I see the same man get out of this creepy white van with no name and walk towards me. I get to thinking like is he following me or nah ? Then I realize, I am leaning on the newspaper thing. He comes over to cut the chain and carry this one away and guess what...I am still sipping my cup of tea because it looked rather suspect to me.
So lets get right to it, we all know that USA Today is geared to reach the WORLD, and not just say.... *cough cough* Dundalk. When there was all that mayhem in Ferguson, those racist remarks from the Clippers' Owner, or with the Trayvon Martin trial, we don't go out, purchase and read the Dundalk Eagle.Lets be 100% clear I know buying a newspaper is a dead mission, BUT lets just say you were to buy one...USA Today...Dundalk Eagle?  I mean, the only reason I know about the Dundalk Eagle is because I was in it this year for playing softball for the school. Other than that what is a Dundalk Eagle and why would I be so interested in it? If you aren't from Dundalk would you even know about it? Nah! I know I didn't. I know before I came to Dundalk I didn't even know where Dundalk was. Dundalk is so small, that the Eagle only covers what's in this little "town".Now USA Today that's a BIG STORY.... It covers just about everything you could think of. You have technology for all you techno people, life or "gossip" as we know it, for the younger generation, sports for all my BILbut ride the bench people, and news for our grandparents. I think the clear winner is : USA TODAY.......dundalk eagle

Drama, Drama, & More Drama

As we all may know Kanye West is in the media a lot for his actions, words, wife Kim K, and baby North West. West is in a industry where the weak do not survive. I don't condone some of the things he does and says but he is not the only person who thinks like that it is simply because he is famous. I think Kanye West is smart, he has realized that DRAMA sells. Kanye is going to do what he has to, to make money, and get himself known. I may not think of myself as a GOD but I do think highly of myself, and he isn't wrong for doing that.

West stated, "When someone comes up and says something like, ‘I am a god,’ everybody says ‘Who does he think he is?’ I just told you who I thought I was. A god. I just told you. That’s who I think I am." Since Kanye is going to do what he has to make money the public and media pick on every little thing he does or say. For example Kanye made headlines on September 12, 2014 for telling his fans to stand up at a concert. There was a man in a wheelchair who could not stand and the media found a way to criticize him on it.

Now don't get me wrong Kanye is NO saint by any means lol, im sure we all remember his Taylor Swift interruption during the VMA's in 2009.

Drama sells and  that's all you tend to see In magazines. Publicizing celebrities problems and making them seem so much more than what they really are. I mean why do we care so much and make it such a big deal? Why are we so strung over Jay and Bey and whether or not Jay-z has a secret child. Walk down North Ave or go down the Village and ask the men down there how many "hidden" kids they have. We as a society, as a world and generation have put these celebrities on such high pedestals that we act like they aren't human and make mistakes or do certain things.

Why is it that drama sells? To us we see it as entertainment but to the people it is happening to, this is their life. "Newlywed Kim miserable already" why is that entertaining for us, why is someone else pain our pleasure? Our generation, our WORLD IS so corrupt, and vengeful. I do not blame the writers for doing what they are doing. It is there job and they need to get paid and provide or their families, they are only doing what sells and what we allow. If we didn't allow this then it wouldn't be ok. When are we as a world going to stop being so brainwashed and allowing one mans hurt to make our day, and give us pleasure and entertainment?
