Meet Young Moose, OTM.
The first time I listened to Young Moose song "Dumb Dumb" I didnt really like it, and I could not put my finger on why. But I am the type of person who needs to know their artist to be able to understand them. I listened to all of OTM 1&2 and I like it. The same applies to Lor Scoota, when I first heard "Bird Flu" didnt like it either but now I like Still In The Trenches 2.5. I dont just hop on the "bandwagon" cause all of the city listening to them, I am fine with being that one odd ball not listening to music.
Im sure we have all heard of Spinrilla(right) and soundcloud. The two most common ways to get your music listened to in today's society. Drop something on there and if its good in a matter of hours you will have a ton of downloads. Why would I try to get in contact with a record deal and try to get signed. People who get signed don't last long. One hit wonders, get the stuff on the radio for about two weeks and then disappear. People who aren't from Baltimore are listening to Lor Scoota and Young Moose. I encourage artist to stay independent, drop your music on spinrilla or soundcloud and let the public tell you how good you are. What matters is what the public thinks not a producer, right?
Now lets talk about cd's....
Thing of the past....or nah?
Lets be real, when is the last time you bought a cd? When is the last time you listened to a cd? When is the last time you downloaded someones new album for free or via itunes? When is the last time you plugged your phone into your aux cord in the car? If you are like me the answer to the first two questions you probably cant even remember the answer to, and the last two probably were no brainers. The way I look at it, why spend money on things when they are free? I am in college I need to save all the money I possibly can lol. Record labels are smart, they will notice all the buzz and get with or meet the artist. I am sure that record labels have spinrilla, and soundcloud, they know what all the hype is in today's society. For example, Meek Mill know about Lor Scoota, working hard you will come up and meet the right people.

To sum it all up, the radio plays things out. So either you have satellite radio or you have an aux cord. The radio has destroyed themselves in my opinion. Artist know how to market themselves and how to get something to the public, a lot of celebrities make money off of endorsements, and shows anyway not necessarily from cds. Gotta get it one way or another, and record labels aren't dumb. They know how to make money and who's hot and who's not!
